Hello Alums!

EDM is recovering from an exciting and busy month of October! Right
after reading days, we participated in Greek Day of Service. We had
some girls go out and do campus clean up and another group headed to
the Knox Country Head Start Center. That same weekend, EDM co-hosted a
lounge party with the Delts. The theme was America. Overall, it went
really well and we're proud of how we pulled the party together. It
was complete with awesome red, white, and blue decorations and some
excellent DJing courtesy of Emily Rapp. To finish off the weekend, on
Sunday we all headed to Mt. Vernon for the CROP walk. It was a
beautiful day, and everyone had fun walking for a good cause!

This past weekend we hosted our annual Halloween Party, which this
year was called the "Halloween Spooktacular." We threw the party in
the Horne Gallery and it worked out beautifully. The decorations were
fabulous and the party went off almost without a hitch. The first hour
we had Halloween-themed activities such as bobbing for apples, cookie
decorating, and eat the doughnut off the string (much harder than it
looks)! The next hour, we had Professor Shutt come in and share
several of his spookiest Kenyon ghost stories. Finally, Motown came
for the last hour and performed for our guests. We had great turnout,
and the Horne was an ideal space for what we wanted to do. Giveaways
included t-shirts and pumpkin mugs! We also participated in the Greek
Fall Festival that weekend, which was geared toward the children in
the Gambier community. EDM's booth was face painting!

In between our bigger events, EDM also found time for the Senior
Scavenger hunt! We also ordered pizzas to the division lounges last
week and decorated t-shirts with iron-on letters, puff paint, and
daisies. Over Parents' weekend, we had a meet and greet/get together
in Crozier complete with dessert and embarrassing childhood stories.

As for November, we have PNO planned for this Friday and a community
service trip to a Retirement Center to attend their "Fall Ball." Our
semiformal will be on December 4th this year!

Hello Alumni! Greetings from your new alumni relations chairs, Savannah and Laurel. We are so excited to be the new alumni chairs and help get ready for the 10th Anniversary of EDM! The first month of school has been great so far. This weekend we went apple picking and it was so much fun (check out the pictures on the website)! We are also making division in Leonard truly our space by hanging up our letters and soon we will be painting the walls our colors!
The month of October will be pretty busy for us. We will be cohosting a Old Kenyon party with the brothers of Delta Tau Delta on the 16th and the theme is AMERICA! WOOHOO! And since October is the month of Halloween, we are planning to have the annual Halloween party in Pierce Pub on the 29th. In regards to community service, we will be participating in the Greek Day of Service as well as Crop Walk, just to name a few.
This semester's semiformal will be on Saturday December 4th so if any of you will be able to come that would be awesome!
Finally, we have set a date for the 10th Anniversary Alumni Weekend: April 8-10th. We are hoping that people can arrive Thursday night, the 7th, and plan to leave Friday largely open so you can all spend time hanging out and catching up. Also, a heads up this year due to small numbers we will be instating a $40 attendance fee to make this weekend extra special! We would like you guys to RSVP by October 31st but don't worry we will be sending out an email with more details about alumni weekend.
We hope to keep you updated throughout the semester with the latest EDM news. We are so excited about this semester!
Love and Daises,
Savvy and Laurel

Update on campus

Hey Alums!
It was so nice having you all back this semester. We had a great turnout and I hope to see even more of you next year. In terms of the official 10 year reunion, we have decided that we will have it during the spring semester of 2011. As you all know there are many weddings going on in the fall (!) and we thought this would be more convenient for everyone. Of course we would love it if you were able to make it out in the fall as well, but if you were planning on saving up for just one visit next year, the 10 year celebration will most likely be in late March, 2011.

The latest EDM news is that we initiated 5 new sisters into our group this past weekend! They are: Shelby Branson, Susannah Green, Laurel Ota, Aislinn Toohey, and Rebecca Spradlin. If you didn't get a chance to meet them at the reunion they are great and we're excited to have them as new sisters. I will get them to post their profiles on the website soon.

In other news on campus, the proposal for sorority division housing finally passed. We will be living on the 3rd floor of the North wing of Leonard. As the Psi U's are currently on a 5 year probation period and due to new housing regulations would have to wait an additional 5 years after that to reapply for division, the three sororities have been granted their old wing. Unfortunately we were not offered the Acland as our housing proposal initially indicated, but we feel that having a permanent residence at Kenyon, no matter where it is, is extremely important for the future of our sorority and a big step for women's groups on campus. If you have any questions about how the process went just shoot me an email.

Hope everyone is doing well!
~ Emilia

Hello alumni! Greetings from your new alumni relations chairs, Hannah and Emilia. We’re excited to work with everyone this semester and to start planning for the big ten year anniversary!

Our first month back to Kenyon has definitely been busy. Rush was successful and now we have five new pledges! This year’s events included a meet and greet, Nick’s pizza, crafts, cookie decorating, game night, semiformal dinner, a day in Columbus with ice skating and chipotle, and fondue night! We just started the pledging process on Sunday and we think this year’s group will be great.

Right now we are also in the process of getting division housing for the Acland. The decision is waiting at Senate, as a subcommittee investigates all division housing at Kenyon. I don’t think anyone realized how long it would take for a decision to be made, but we are hopeful that it will be passed and we will no longer have to apply for themed housing every year.

This month we also took part in an ALS benefit with the DKE’s. Last weekend there was an extended happy hour at the VI, followed by Motown and DJs, all to raise money for Lou Gehrig’s disease! It is estimated that around $5000 was raised for the cause. Great job to Laule’a and other sisters for doing publicity for the event!

We hope to be updating you throughout the semester with the latest in EDM news. I also wanted to remind you that alumni weekend is quickly approaching and we would love to get more RSVPs! Please email stewarth@kenyon.edu or ewbirdsall@gmail.com if you know you’ll be coming.

Thanks!

Hannah and Emilia
